How did we get here?
I’m Emily Potts, a digital media strategist and writer exploring AI, internet culture, media literacy, and what it means to be human in an increasingly algorithmic world. I hold a master’s degree in Digital Media Management from the University of Southern California and a bachelor’s degree in Television-Radio from Ithaca College.
I’ve spent more than 10 years working in digital media, but the last few years have left me questioning things both as a professional in the industry and as a human being trying to exist online. The old adage that “AI won’t take your job, but a person using AI will” has quickly become the consensus across industries, but is this really the case?
I’m not anti-technology. I’m not anti-AI. But I am anti “get on board or go home” narrative. The Cached Society is for all of us caught in the middle of this exhausting conversation, trying to engage with technology thoughtfully without feeling pressured to optimize every part of our lives in the process.
